China Trips – Yangshuo
Imagine waking up to mist rising over the green karst peaks, the scent of jasmine and earth after the morning rain. At 9:30, your Tai Chi and Qigong session with Master Kim Wu begins — a calm, powerful way to center yourself in movement and breath. After a freshly cooked lunch prepared by the school’s kitchen team, afternoons slow down: rest, read, or simply enjoy the stillness. At 15:00, Maria van Bruggen leads a practical TCM class, exploring the wisdom of nature through real clinical understanding. Evenings invite reflection — join a traditional tea ceremony with Master Kim, or explore the quiet village paths, rice fields, and the beauty of the Yulong River. This is more than a trip — it’s a retreat for body and soul, and a return to what feels natural.
Accommodation
You can stay directly at the Tai Chi school (included in the Yulong program price) or choose one of the charming nearby hotels (not included, at your own cost). The school offers 8 rooms — each suitable for up to two guests (or a small family of three). Rooms are hotel-standard, with a normal bed (not the Chinese board), private hot/cold shower, Western-style toilet, and daily cleaning. Availability is limited, so early booking is recommended.

“Maria, I sincerely thank you for this magical journey — for the inspiration and the energy, new strength, pleasure, and gentle calm it brought. The training took place in a picturesque location, in a friendly, warm atmosphere that you created while sharing your knowledge and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine with us. Thank you for these classes — I discovered so many new and useful things for improving my health. Thank you for your attentive and warm attitude toward us, for introducing us to Chinese culture and traditions, for the wonderful excursions, delicious treats, and lovely surprise gifts.
Many thanks also to Master Kim for the Tai Chi lessons, for his kindness toward everyone, and for the cheerful mood he shared with us every day. After the trip, many people told me that I had changed — that I’d become calmer and more relaxed. The knowledge and recommendations I received from you continue to help me transform and feel better day by day. My heartfelt gratitude to you, Etienne, Master Kim, and his whole family for your hospitality and for the miracles that happened! ❤️🙏✨”

“For me, this was the most amazing educational and discovery-filled trip I’ve ever taken. My impressions exceeded all expectations. Everything was practically perfect.
The beautiful location in Yangshuo captivates you from the first glance with its breathtaking scenery — majestic karst mountains and picturesque rivers. Every moment spent within these mountain ranges, from the moment you wake up to the end of the day, no matter what you do — you’re surrounded by these magical landscapes, absorbing their energy and finding deep peace and inspiration.Maria’s lessons provide a solid foundation in the science of TCM. The material is absorbed easily, thoroughly, and with great joy. Especially valuable is how theory is reinforced by practice, lively communication with the teacher, and a group of wonderful female colleagues who quickly became like family. Under Maria’s attentive guidance, we learned many useful Chinese healing techniques that I’ll use in my future TCM practice.
The Tai Chi classes with the amazing and joyful Master Kim were a delight — a rich experience in Wushu practices. The training sessions were so engaging that I never wanted them to end. I already had some experience with Tai Chi and Qigong, and it was a great joy to be introduced to the Chen Style for the first time.
The food, drinks, and atmosphere touched and inspired me deeply. Freshly prepared dishes of vegetables, meat, fish, grains, a variety of fruits and drinks — they won the hearts of all the students. I keep thinking about the possibility of returning to this beloved place someday with my children and loved ones.
Free time and weekends were full of amazing opportunities. The trip included several fascinating excursions and activities: a traditional tea ceremony in costume, hikes across glass bridges and through fairytale caves, and rafting on a magical river.
We attended historical shows, tried our hand at fan painting, explored the welcoming “cloud city” with its lively markets, and, of course, enjoyed some shopping. You can simply stroll around the school, breathing in the morning air, or rent a scooter and ride through the scenic countryside, soaking in the authentic impressions. At sunset, you might stumble upon a half-hour-long fireworks display — explosions of firecrackers mixed with local folklore music. Or you can just relax in a café and enjoy exotic cocktails. You can do anything! You can truly reset yourself completely.
In the evenings, we enjoyed tea ceremonies in the warm company of Master Kim, his wonderful family, all the students, and teachers — deep bows of gratitude to them all! 🙏
Once again, my heartfelt thanks to Maria and her caring husband Etienne for their invaluable help and support throughout this long and all-too-short magical journey. 🙏🙏”

“It was a magical journey in the company of like-minded people. On weekdays, we had a clear schedule: after breakfast, a short rest, then a Tai Chi class, lunch, and later lessons with Maria, where she generously shared her knowledge, skills, and experience. I constantly felt inspired to immediately buy various useful herbs, medicines, tools, and instruments to help people using the rich possibilities of Chinese medicine.Dinners were filled with a feeling of unity and warmth — students from all over the world, teachers, and their families. After dinner, we enjoyed tea ceremonies, talking about all sorts of topics in our international circle. On weekends, we explored the nearby towns — rafting on bamboo rafts, soaking up the peace of the surrounding mountains, painting silk fans under the guidance of a calligraphy master, and attending a real tea ceremony in a traditional tea house, wearing national costumes, tasting different kinds of tea, and buying our favorites to take home as gifts.
We even rode electric scooters to the supermarket — an unforgettable experience for me! It was exciting, a bit scary, and absolutely wonderful! We tried many new foods while Maria told us about their health benefits with enthusiasm. The food was fantastically delicious and freshly made — I fell in love with Chinese cuisine, though I didn’t expect to!
It was fascinating to try acupuncture on ourselves and then, once we gained confidence, to place healing needles on other students. The organization, group atmosphere, and learning process were all impeccable. I’ve fallen in love with China and plan to return for further study and immersion. I also plan to continue learning with Maria — she truly lives Chinese medicine and serves as a guide for all who are curious and devoted to it.
I’m deeply grateful to Sofia, through whom I learned about this trip — a journey that gave me two weeks of endless joy and satisfaction. 🙏🙏🙏 With great respect and gratitude to you, Maria.”

“I would call this trip a total reset! There was no anxiety or responsibility at all — the biggest decision of the day was whether to go for a coffee or not! The daily routine was ideal, like being in a wellness retreat. Cheerful Master Kim with his Tai Chi classes, two-hour engaging lessons with Maria, delicious and varied food, and the unique natural surroundings created an atmosphere of kindness and inner balance. After returning home, I felt full of energy and made new connections with interesting people and teachers. I now practice daily, perform self-acupuncture (so far following the program Maria designed for me), and plan to continue productive online studies with her.”

“We joined Maria’s healing-educational tour in China in September 2024 and were absolutely delighted! The program was very full — the entire day scheduled to the minute. After breakfast, we practiced Tai Chi for two hours. It wasn’t easy to master everything right away, but we loved the warm-up exercises so much that we’ve now incorporated them into our daily life back home — they truly help with health issues! At 12, we had lunch — lots of stewed vegetables prepared in a unique way. At first, it felt unusual, but after about three days, we grew to love it and found our favorite dishes. Master Kim, his family, and often his friends joined us for lunch — a true Chinese tradition. All the ingredients were fresh — he personally bought them each morning at the market. There were also delicious rice buns with sweet orange filling!
After lunch, some went to Maria for healing sessions, while others rested. At 3 p.m., study sessions began and lasted for two hours. Maria gives an incredible amount of material — enough to start helping oneself and loved ones. Yet it also opens up many new questions for deeper study. We’ve become truly immersed in this field — I think for a long time to come.
Dinner was at 6 p.m., again freshly prepared. After dinner, you could go into town, attend another healing session with Maria, relax in a restaurant, or join a tea ceremony at the big table.
There were six of us in total — and everyone managed to complete all healing sessions on schedule. After two weeks, one of my key health indicators improved by 13%! I’d had high cholesterol for 10 years — now it’s normal! Of course, there’s still work to do on my health, but when I recently had a headache, I forced myself to do the Tai Chi sequence — and by the end, the headache was gone. I didn’t used to believe Tai Chi really helps — now I know it does.
The major health issue isn’t fully resolved yet, but Maria continues to help, sending point combinations and following up regularly. I’m very grateful to her for organizing such a rich and inspiring tour. Her calmness, steadiness, experience, and knowledge give real confidence that everything will be fine.”

“Dear Maria, our family joined you september 2023 at Master Kim’s Tai Chi school. The trip was unforgettable and extraordinary, despite some adventures along the way. Thank you so much for helping organize it and giving us the opportunity to see such beautiful places in China. We still remember it with great gratitude.”Galina:
“No words! I want more!”Elena:
“It was my first trip to China, and I was definitely nervous — such a long flight, a new country, and an unfamiliar culture. But the place we arrived at, near Guilin, felt so calm and safe — like being at your grandmother’s village. The people were so welcoming, joyful, and kind. And the food was delicious! The Tai Chi lessons with Master Kim — we only scratched the surface of this art, but I understood how deeply it calms, centers, and fills you with energy and life force!
Maria — our attentive and caring teacher — taught us the basics of Chinese medicine, performed acupuncture treatments to improve our health, organized our excursions, and in the evenings we went to cafés full of laughter and joy — a true laughter therapy!
If you’re tired, stressed, and need a reset and a fresh perspective on life — you absolutely must visit this peaceful and quiet corner!”
