Tai Chi Therapy (1:1)

What is Tai Chi Therapy?

Tai Chi (Taiji Quan) is an ancient Chinese art of movement, often described as “meditation in motion.” In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Tai Chi is used therapeutically to harmonize the flow of Qi, strengthen the body, and calm the mind. The gentle, flowing movements improve balance, coordination, and stability while restoring inner harmony. At Yulong TCM, Tai Chi is offered as individual therapeutic sessions — not group classes — designed to support specific health conditions and recovery.

Our Treatment Approach

Each Tai Chi therapy session is one-on-one and customized to your current physical ability and health goals. Maria van Bruggen, a certified ZHONG practitioner and experienced Tai Chi instructor, guides each movement with precision and sensitivity. These gentle, mindful exercises are performed in a calm clinical setting, making them ideal for clients seeking to improve balance, reduce stiffness, and restore energy flow after illness or chronic conditions such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, or long-term stress.

Conditions We Commonly Support with Tai Chi Therapy

  • Neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s or MS
  • Post-stroke or post-illness recovery
  • Balance and coordination problems
  • Chronic fatigue and low vitality
  • Stress, anxiety, and emotional imbalance
  • Joint stiffness, muscle weakness, and tension

What to Expect During a Session

Your first session begins with a personal health consultation to assess your needs, balance, and energy level. You’ll then be guided through a sequence of simple, slow movements, breathing patterns, and postural corrections. The focus is on ease, awareness, and fluidity — not performance. Movements are gentle, safe, and fully adapted to your body’s condition. Sessions last about 45–60 minutes and leave most clients feeling centered, calm, and uplifted.

Frequency and Course of Treatment

Progress is gradual and personalized. Some clients attend weekly sessions for rehabilitation or stress management; others integrate Tai Chi therapy as an ongoing complement to acupuncture or moxibustion. During your first appointment, we’ll discuss the ideal rhythm and duration to best support your goals.
