Headache Treatments
What are Headache Treatments?
Our TCM-based headache care focuses on identifying and treating the underlying patterns that drive pain — such as tension, stagnation, hormonal fluctuations, digestive imbalance, or sensitivity to stress and weather. Using gentle methods (acupuncture, warming techniques, acupressure, and lifestyle guidance), we promote the smooth flow of Qi and blood, relax the neck and shoulders, calm the nervous system, and reduce frequency and intensity of attacks — naturally and non-invasively.
Our Treatment Approach
At Yulong TCM, each session is adapted to your unique triggers and presentation. Maria van Bruggen, a certified ZHONG practitioner, combines classical diagnostics (pulse and tongue) with modern, minimal-needle strategies and supportive warming where needed. Whether you experience migraines with or without aura, tension-type headaches, or stress-related head and neck pain, your plan is customized to provide both immediate relief and long-term prevention.
Conditions We Commonly Treat
- Migraines (with or without aura), light/sound sensitivity, nausea
- Tension-type headaches and stress-related neck/shoulder tightness
- Hormonal headaches (PMS/menstrual, peri-/post-menopausal)
- Sinus and frontal headaches, weather-sensitive headaches
- Jaw/TMJ-related headaches and screen-fatigue headaches
- Post-illness or post-viral head pressure and fatigue
What to Expect During a Session
Your first visit includes a detailed consultation about your headache history (onset, triggers, pattern), lifestyle, and overall health. After pulse and tongue diagnosis, gentle techniques are applied at selected points to release tension, regulate Qi and blood, and settle the nervous system. Many clients feel a steady sense of ease and clarity during the session. Treatments typically last 45–60 minutes, leaving you relaxed and rebalanced.
Frequency and Course of Treatment
Acute headaches may settle within a few sessions; recurrent or long-standing patterns are addressed progressively over several weeks for prevention and stability. We’ll discuss the ideal frequency at your first appointment to achieve the best, lasting results.
